The land. The legacy.
Practically everyone who comes here creates their own relationship with the Preserve. It’s different for everyone. It may happen almost instantly, or gradually, almost subliminally. But the awe and appreciation of this place is inevitable. Ultimately, the Preserve becomes uniquely personal to each of us who have fallen under its spell. It’s about people, pursuits, pleasures and philosophies that emerge from the concept of living in harmony with nature. The common thread is a love of the environment, convivial community and life’s ongoing spirit of curiosity.
The Santa Lucia Preserve is a community dedicated to appreciating and respecting its natural beauty, in addition to its geographical, historical, and cultural setting. Our conservation community includes fewer than 300 families, the nonprofit Santa Lucia Conservancy, and a team of multi-talented staff. The Preserve embodies the intersection of nature and nurture with an innovative community design and subscribes to a Mission, Vision, and Values that ensure the perpetual protection of The Preserve’s natural and scenic resources. It’s where wilderness, community, and culture converge, creating an idyllic place for ranch living with ocean views.

As you drive through the gates of The Santa Lucia Preserve and into its vast and dramatic landscape …
…you’re overcome with the distinct sense that time has slowed. Rich soil tethers deep ancestral roots of vast flora throughout the Santa Lucia Mountains. The Preserve is virtually as it has been throughout history, hidden within the mountains, only a few miles inland from the Pacific Coast and a convenient two-hour drive from the San Francisco Bay Area.
